On the Twelve Course of Christmas KLA said to thee......

Wow what an amazing end of November beginning of December for K Lamb Associates Ltd. At least 12 more events delivered to 12 Fire Services in the UK.

SFJ Awards, Level 7 Award - Strategic Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue service (GMFRS) hosted the latest SFJ Level 7 workshop for delegates from GMFRS, Nottinghamshire FRS, and Merseyside FRS. All of them threw themselves into what is an intensive 2 days, each preparing for and delivering one presentation as well as researching other topics to form part of their professional discussions. Well done to the delegates who all impressed and were a credit to their services.

SFJ Awards, Level 6 Award - Advanced Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services.

Devon Fire hosted this course at which their delegates were joined by delegates from Hertfordshire Fire and Kent Fire. A rewarding 5 days, all delegates not only get informative input they get to be assessed at both the formative and summative stage, not only that these delegates get to observe as others are put through their paces. A fully immersive experience for the Incident Commanders that everyone gains invaluable experience from.

SFJ Awards, Level 3 Award - Initial Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services.

Northumberland Fire (NFRS) and GMFRS both engaged with this course. In NFRS they opted for a full delivery over 5 days utilising one of KLA’s delivery teams to faciltate this extremely important start of the Incident Commanders journey. In GMFRS local delivery teams facilitated they course ably assisted by a member of KLA’s team to provide additional training and assessment capacity.

SFJ - Effective Command – Incident Command Levels 2, 3 and 4 – Revalidation Assessment (ICL2, 3 & 4)

South Yorkshire Fire (SYFRS) once again received their ICL4 (Tactical) revalidation assessment. The entire Strategic (Gold) Command team placed themselves forward to experience being in-charge of deliberately difficult and complex incident scenarios. Designed to be realistic, featuring risks identified in their own service area, they all demonstrated the required behaviours against the Effective Command Behavioural Marking Tool. Using SYFRS Command Unit, Team and Command Support Officer as well as other functional officers you cannot get a more immersive environment at which so many officers gain an insight into the Strategic element of incident command. KLA’s delivery team converged on Humberside Fire for their ICL2, 3 & 4 (Tactical) revalidation assessments. Again, some genuinely great performances, HFRS have been at the forefront of using Effective Command Behavioural Marking in all levels of assessment.

The many many services across the UK Fire Sector that now subscribe to EC all benefit from an annual EC Standardisation and Assessor training day. This visit applied to Norfolk Fire recently with further visits to Cumbria Fire and Lancashire Fire who both invited Katherine Lamb in to demonstrate the immeasurable benefits of using EC. Data generation, Command Hour collection, numerous training portal scenarios at Level 1 & 2 to name but a few benefits.

Finally, Leicester Fire hosted a Command Support Unit Operative course delivered by a KLA team. Again, in their own service utilising Command assets from within, this course aims to demonstrate the massive advantages of having a trained CS Team who can provide the absolute best support to an Incident Commander.
