How do you become a safe, effective, and assertive incident commander?

How do you become a safe, effective, and assertive incident commander? with small steps starting by being self-aware and engaging in excellent quality, professionally delivered training.

Northumberland Fire continue to invest heavily in their next generation of incident commanders securing the services of a very experienced KLA (Katherine Lamb Associates) delivery team who spent the week with a cohort of their ICL1 officers on a SFJ (Skills for Justice) Awards, Level 3 Award in Initial Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services. The feedback received has been fantastic here is an example,

“Very enjoyable course, interactive and in a positive environment. Instructors very approachable and friendly while informative and encouraging. Adapted to different learning styles and went out of their way to help improve each student. Ended the week feeling very positive and having learned a lot in a short space of time. Thank you.” Alan Gibbard Northumberland FRS

Dedicated and focused Command Support Unit (CSU) training was the request from Warwickshire Fire. KLA delivered our popular bespoke 2-day CSU Operative course and was very well received. The feedback received includes this from one of the delegates, Stocker Standen.

“Effective command has made a difference to our operational response by helping improve our commanders and support functions.”

Another long-time client, Cambridgeshire Fire, invited KLA in to deliver their SFJ-Effective Command ICL2 and ICL3 revalidation assessments. On this occasion they also opted for KLA’s additional half day knowledge input leading into the assessments. This combination is becoming more popular as services realise the benefit of additional instruction delivered by experienced trainers.

KLA pride themselves as a can-do company and offer the full suite of SFJ Awards qualifications, at Level 3 (Initial ICL1), Level 4 (Intermediate ICL2), Level 4 Designing and Delivering Incident Command Training, Level 6 (Advanced ICL3), and Level 7 (Strategic ICL4) in Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services. KLA not only deliver qualifications but offer a design, delivery, and assessment service for Incident Command Revalidation Assessments.
