A story of firsts in the first month of 2024 for Katherine Lamb Associates.

A story of firsts in the first month of 2024 for Katherine Lamb Associates.

Firstly, a warm welcome from Katherine Lamb to colleagues from the Northern Island Fire (NIFRS) who for the first-time invited Katherine Lamb Associates Ltd to deliver two of the new SFJ Awards Level 4 Award in Designing and Delivering Incident Command Training (610/3384/4) courses. Hosted within NIFRS excellent facilities 2 experienced KLA Associate Trainers, Ed Case and Rafer Joseph, spent 4 days with delegates leading them through phase 1 of the qualification. Great anecdotal feedback already received, we look forward to returning to deliver the second and final phase later in the year.

Another first was an invite from Stansted Airport Fire Service for KLA to deliver an input in relation to the Effective Command (EC) Behavioural Marking Tool following their recent purchase of a 12-month subscription from KLA to access the Training Portal facility of the tool. This level of subscription gives them access to over 70 varied ICL1 & 2 training scenarios with accompanying worksheets and lesson plans. Elsewhere, Cheshire Fire invited us to deliver their inaugural input having also purchased a 12-month subscription to EC’s Training Portal. A well-attended input, we look forward to providing further support to this service.

Kent Fire welcomed KLA to deliver their annual EC Standardisation and Assessor Training input. This input forms part of the 12-month subscription and focuses on local data collected within EC from its application in Incident Monitoring, Training, and Formal Assessments. A good session the attendees participated in group discussion on several topics related to Incident Command in the Fire Service.

Finally, we recently reinvigorated our client relationship with Cumbria FRS who last week welcomed a KLA delivery team to deliver a SFJ Awards, Level 4 Award in Intermediate Incident Command in Fire & Rescue Services. The course, attended not only by Cumbria delegates, welcomed others from Leicester Fire, Northumberland Fire and Warwickshire Fire. Great hosts, good delegates look forward to continuing this relationship.

A KLA Associates Ltd Strategic Assessor found themselves once more assessing on the SCG Chair practical phase of a SFJ Awards, Level 7 Award - Strategic Incident Command in Fire & Rescue Service. Well done to ACFO Barry Moore from Greater Manchester Fire and Tom Archer from Nottinghamshire Fire who both successfully satisfied all the criteria for this element of the award.

Does your organisation collect the data collected from training, incident monitoring and formal assessments and if so, how? The Effective Command Behavioural Marknig Tool enables you to collect such data which can then be used to inform future training cycles or influence change to the organisations SOPs.
