Working in the North West Region

K lamb Associates working in the North West Region

It was a pleasure to be invited back to Lancashire Fire as they offered to host, for the NW Region, a SFJ Awards, Level 4 Award in Intermediate Incident Command. The course was filled with delegates from Cumbria Fire and Humberside Fire. A KLA team spent the week in the wonderful facilities of Lancashire FRS as each delegate was given the opportunity to be assessed as Incident Commander twice and to take part as a role player/ observer in their peer's assessments. An intensive week of knowledge input, and practical experience all with support from the experienced trainers and assessors. Feedback just in;

“Excellent course which has given me a lot to think about in terms of career direction.” SFJ Awards Level 4 Lancashire FRS

Our international team ended week 2 of their deployment to Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service. Whilst in country they have carried out a substantial number of ICL1 Revalidation Assessments. The course director has been impressed by the engagement and commitment shown by the officers to developing themselves as Incident Commanders.

KLA once again provided a trainer/ assessor to support Greater Manchester Fire as their in-house training team continue with their immense programme of delivering SFJ Awards, Level 3 Award in Initial Incident Command.

Katherine Lamb commented that the continued use of the Effective Command Behavioural Marking Framework by KLA’s assessors is key to understanding better the national trends in Incident Command. Now surpassing 2 million data points, the success of this behavioural marking tool has led to the generation of a significant data set. More academic rigor is being applied to the data by Katherine as we seek to further understand every element of Incident Command decision making.
