Incident Command Training and Assessment has never been more important.

Incident Command Training and Assessment has never been more important.

 As K Lamb Associates delivery teams travel the length and breadth of the country visiting many Fire Services delivering SFJ Incident Command Courses (IC) and facilitating IC Revalidation Assessments one word resonates with them all, the ‘Q’ word. As services receive fewer calls it stands to reason that there is potential for ‘skills fade’ in relation to Incident Command.

 The many services that contact Katherine Lamb all recognise the importance of not only accessing our excellently delivered quality IC SFJ courses but also how necessary it is to have revalidation of IC Assessments, in line with National Operational Guidance (NOG). Use of the Effective Command Behavioural Marking tool ensures a holistic approach by services.

Last week KLA delivery teams were once again out and about. In Humberside Fire we delivered another successful SFJ Awards, Level 4 Award in Intermediate Incident Command. Just look at the feedback from one delegate;

 “KL instructors are all incredibly knowledgeable, but most of all, they are a joy to work with and training, as a consequence, is enjoyable and professionally useful.” SFJ Level 4 Intermediate, Humb FRS

 In Cambridgeshire Fire our team delivered yet another SFJ Awards, Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command with delegates joining from Kent Fire. We regularly work with this service, and it is always a delight to see the development of their commanders as we get to see many of them progress through the various IC levels. This feedback received from one of the delegates,

 “I’d like to commend the team particular Costa and Trevor on a brilliantly and insightful course. Highly challenging throughout.” SFJ Level 6 Advanced, Cambs FRS

 In Tyne & Wear Fire a KLA team facilitated a day of Incident Command Level 4 (Tactical) Revalidation Assessments. The delegates, DCFO Stewart Nicolson and AM Andy Lillford, both experienced a challenging and complex scenario based around risks associated with the service area. Utilising their Command Support Vehicle and CS Team along with some FDOs it was a completely immersive environment and one that we maintain replicates as close as possible the real thing.
