First Time for Everything
First Time for Everything
K Lamb Associates Ltd experienced two firsts last week. Humberside Fire commissioned KLA to deliver our SFJ Awards Level 7 Award in Revalidation of Strategic Incident Command. Hosting the day, HFRS wanted it to be as realistic as possible and son invited along a strategic advisor (LRF) a loggist and a tactical advisor in the form of a National Inter-agency Liaison Officer (NILO). KLA provided the course director, role players and one of strategic assessors. A fascinating day as CFO Phil Shillito and DCFO Niall Mckinnery both used their vast experience to each successfully chair a strategic coordination Group (SCG) meeting with a backdrop of a significant incident in their service area.
The other first was the commission from Lincolnshire Fire (LFRS) for KLA to deliver our whole day of SFJ-Effective Command-Incident Command Level 4 (ICL4 Tactical) Revalidation Assessment. ACFO Steve Topham and AM Dave Lynch, both immersed themselves in 2 very challenging scenarios replicating risks in their service area. Fantastic support was provided by the LFRS Incident Command Training Team and several flexi-duty officers, made the day a huge success. We look forward to returning to LFRS soon.
Whilst our delivery team was in the region, we also managed to deliver a second day of SFJ-Effective Command-Incident Command Level 4 (ICL4 Tactical) Revalidation Assessment for County Durham & Darlington Fire. Always a great place to work, we were made to feel very welcome as again, supported by their ICT Team, the candidates were placed in a familiar surrounding however it was no less challenging because of the thought that goes into building our bespoke scenarios.
In Devon & Somerset Fire (D&SFRS) our partner Strategic Trainer/ Assessor Joe Hassell, delivered yet another excellent Group Decision-Making Exercise this time for tactical commanders. Forming part of a series of Command Hour Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions, D&SFRS once again demonstrate their commitment to developing their officers.
Finally, Northamptonshire Fire asked KLA to deliver a day's XVR Simulation Training. Recognising that their team Incident Command Training Team has gone through a period of change, they identified that some expertly delivered training was required to ensure consistency across the team. KLA were glad to oblige on this occasion.
