A Week with the emphasis on Strategic Command

A Week with the emphasis on Strategic Command

Another busy week for K Lamb Associates the emphasis being on the delivery of our Strategic Command products. In a rare event we welcomed an impressive number of 4 Chief Fire Officers onto courses delivered and facilitated through KLA’s Strategic Assessor network.

South Yorkshire Fire (SYFRS) hosted our latest SFJ Awards, Level 7 Award in Strategic Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services. Four delegates from SYFRS, Humberside Fire, Lancashire Fire and Northamptonshire Fire were all given the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding across a wide range of Incident Command related topics in phase 1, our 2-day workshop format. Some excellent engagement led to interesting and thought-provoking group discussions.

At Staffordshire Fire HQ site, a Strategic Assessor assessed another 4 delegates on phase 2 of the SFJ Awards, Level 7 Award the SCG Practical Exercise. Excellently facilitated again through Staffordshire’s Civil Contingency Unit (CCU), the Strategic level delegates from Hertfordshire Fire, Surrey Fire, Norfolk Fire and Buckinghamshire Fire were all exposed to a challenging incident scenario. Observations were made on TCG briefings, chairing of a complex SCG, feedback sessions, media interview and finally the handover to the next SCG chair. A full-on experience everyone performed well and took a lot from the experience.

In Tyne & Wear Fire a KLA delivery team spent 2-days facilitating and assessing delegates as they revalidated against their SFJ-Effective Command-ICL3 competency. Using the in-house facilities, Command Support Unit, Command Support Team and volunteer TacAds, the delegates found themselves in familiar surroundings meaning they could focus solely on getting the most out of the assessment. Some great performances which is testament to TWFRS’s training and assessment ethos.

“This course has allowed me to demonstrate competence at IC Level 3 Incident Command while also providing development points along the way.” SFJ-EC-ICL3 TWFRS.
